Trial Week for Single Stream Recycling

Trial Week for Single Stream Recycling
The Bedford Street & Sanitation Department will conduct a trial week of single stream recycling beginning Monday, June 23, 2025. During this trial, recycling will be collected using the rear-load refuse truck—a vehicle typically used for trash collection—instead of the usual recycling truck with trailer and bins. Residents will not need to change how or when they place recycling out for pickup.

This trial aims to evaluate whether single stream recycling is more efficient. All collected recyclables will still be properly sorted and processed by Rumpke Recycling.
The City wants residents to be aware of the temporary change to avoid confusion if they see recyclables being loaded into a truck normally designated for trash. Rest assured, all materials will still be recycled appropriately.
If the trial proves successful, the City will update the community about any permanent changes to recycling collection.
